Charles R. Moore, 84, of, Massillon, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Affinity Medical Center. Charlie was born January 15, 1932 in Rhodell, West Virginia to William and Viola (Pendry) Moore. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Charlie married Marie Lester on April 7, 1952. They shared 64 loving years together. Charlie worked as a police officer for Massillon City Police Department and as an EMT for 10 years. He then worked at Republic Steel, where he retired from after 26 years of service. Charlie was a charter member of the FOP and original member of the Lost Arrow Archery Club. He was an avid shooter, hunter, fisherman and loved camping. His greatest passion was being outdoors, especially tending to his garden. Charlie will be deeply missed by his wife, Marie; children, Karen (Tim Rohr) Valentine, Charles Moore, David (Elizabeth) Moore, and Bill (Lori) Moore all of Massillon; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Shelby (Win) Carter; special nephew, Charles (Barb) Hensley. In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by a grandson, Baby Moore, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Friends may call Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 5-8 pm at Paquelet Funeral Home, in Massillon. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10 am with Pastor Carl Orphanides officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
