Charles “Charlie” E. Burke, age 74 of Massillon passed away on December 29, 2017. He was born in Massillon on September 19, 1943 to the late Charles Joseph Burke and Mary Martha (Earley) Burke. He was a graduate of Washington High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army, spending time in Korea. He worked as a self-employed Carpenter and was a jack of all trades. Charlie never met a stranger, it was just the man he hadn’t met yet. He was known for a quick joke or story. You always knew he was around when you heard “Any News, Lies, Scandals or Mail”. Charlie loved his cats, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Evon E. Scott; his beloved sister and best friend Mary Ann Welcher; his grandchildren Robert Peterson, Aaron Peterson, Trevon Scott; special grandchild Lisa Welcher; special great-grandchildren Harlan Welcher and Tacorra Wilson; his special friends Sandra Crable, Phyllis Flowers, Joe Earley and David Jones; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 20 years Elizabeth (Palm) Burke; sister Minnie Traylor and her husband Parnell Traylor; his brother George Burke. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, January 04, 2017 at 2pm at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Pastors Darrel Echols and Michael Traylor, with additional words of comfort by Bishop Gerry Evans. The family will receive friends from 1pm until the time of the service.
