Charles D. (Bub) Leonard, age 74 of Massillon. Bub passed away early Thursday morning at the Rose Lane Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was born in Cleveland to the late Charles F. and Mary (Waterman) Leonard on May 27, 1934. Bub graduated from Jackson High School. In high school he lettered all four years in baseball, basketball and football. In football he garnered the honors of the All-County Team as a fullback in 1952 & 1953. He was inducted onto the Wall of Fame at Jackson High in January of 2003. Bub went on to the Marines after High School where he became a sergeant and received the National Defense Service Medal. After 30 years Bub retired from Superior Brand Meats where he was a truck driver. He was married to Shirley Leonard for 30 yrs. He loved to travel, garden, walk and converse with people. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Lowell, Max and two sisters Linda Gradijan and infant Mary Ann. He is survived by 2 sons, Eric C. Leonard of Massillon, Charles D. Jr. & Cheryl Leonard of Massillon; 1 daughter, Lisa & Chin Lee of Massillon; six grandchildren, Ben, LeeAnna, Dan, Trisha, Tom, & Sean; 3 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Jim & Sue Leonard of Georgia, Jerry & Desi Leonard of WV; 2 sisters, Gloria Smith of Canton, Kay & Randy Shull of VA and many special friends. There will be a funeral service at 12:30 P.M. on Monday at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 – 5 P.M. at the funeral home.
