Charles “Chuck” W. Monroe, Sr., 90, Massillon, passed away on March 10, 2024, at Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Massillon, on August 31,1933.
Chuck served his country in the United States Army for two years.
He was formerly employed with Superior Meats and Giant Eagle.
His true passion in life was ‘Farmer Chuck’s Market’ which was a fruit and vegetable stand Chuck proudly ran for most of his life. In addition to fruits and vegetables, Chuck also sold seasonal items such as sunflowers and Christmas trees. It truly was his greatest accomplishment.
When he wasn’t tending to his market stand, Chuck enjoyed sitting on his porch in his swing, especially if the sun was shining.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Lela Monroe; children Greta Smith, Charles “Tank” (Sue) Monroe, Jr., Linda (Mark) Rohr, Beth (Guerro) Bustamante, Joe (Barbara) Monroe, and Sue (Randy) Weiford; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called him “Grandpa”.
Chuck was preceded in death by his son, Jeff Varner and his foster parents, Woods and Ulla Polling.
There will be no services but sympathy cards and/or flowers may be sent to Paquelet Funeral Home where they will be forwarded to the family.
