Charles “Chuck” Russell, 76, of Massillon, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday evening, July 3, 2019. Chuck was born on October 10, 1942 in Canton, the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Kratz) Russell. Chuck was a 1960 graduate of Timken High School and worked for Timken Roller Bearing Co. for 35 years. He especially enjoyed watching Timken High School basketball with Debbie and their Timken group of friends. Chuck valued pursuing his passions and his were always clear: family, making movies, and amusement parks. Chuck’s love of movies began when he received his first camera on his 12th birthday. Walt Disney was his biggest influence. There wasn’t an amusement park that he couldn’t detail in history and he was the family’s Disney expert. He was thrilled to drive to Disney last summer with Debbie to see the Avatar exhibit and was eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see the finished Star Wars section. He loved sharing his movies made while on vacation and was passionate about preserving the history of Euclid Beach and Meyers Lake amusement parks through film. Chuck will be deeply missed by his family at holiday gatherings because of his excitement over the search for the best-smelling Christmas tree, eating all the dark meat off of the turkey at Thanksgiving, being a great host and serving up drinks with koozies, playing corn hole and sitting around the bonfire. Chuck was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Chuck is survived by his loving wife Debbie (Kiefer) Russell; along with five children, Chuck M. (Debby) Russell, Vickie (Jim) Datkuliak, Eric (Trisha) Stillion, Lindsey (Rod) Maldonado, and Andrea (Dustin) Paulson; nine grandchildren, Mindy (Mitch Picone) Datkuliak and Steven Datkuliak, Taylor and Joshua Stillion, Jocelyn and Emilio Maldonado, Ethan, Autumn, and Aurora Paulson; his brother, Jack Russell; and nephew, Jack M. Russell. Chuck was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to everyone he met. A Celebration of Chuck’s life will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Fr. Edward Gretchko, Officiating. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
