Charles “Chuck” L. Martin, age 78 of Massillon, passed away Thursday evening at Affinity Medical Center – Doctor’s Campus. He was born on March 3, 1930 in Alliance to the late Charles R. and M. Edythe (Bell) Martin and lived in the Massillon area his entire life. Chuck is a 1950 Washington High School graduate. He retired from Perry Schools in 1986 following 29 years of service as a custodian. Chuck enjoyed music, singing in the Massillon Senior Center Chorus and the church choir. He is also known for his bands, The Melody Masters, Chuck Martin and Orchestra and participating in the Clinton – Canal Fulton Community Band and helping out with the Massillon Lions Club Variety Show. Chuck also volunteered at Doctors Hospital. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Perry Twp. He is survived by his wife, Betty Martin, with whom he celebrated 54 years of marriage on August 15, 2007; sons and daughter-in-law, Dave Martin of North Ft. Myers, Fl, Keith (Beth) Martin of Massillon; daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Jeffery) Wittensoldner of Canton; brother and sister-in-law, George (Shirley) Martin of Kettering; grandchildren, Rachel (Jacob) Martin, Mandy (Jake) Cary, Joseph, Jeffery and Julie Wittensoldner; great grandchildren, Jarrod, Jayden and Coby Martin. Funeral services celebrating Chuck’s life will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. James Zimmerman officiating. Calling hours will be Sunday 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Arnold – Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon and one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
