Charles "Charlie" B. Sheaters, 84, passed away surrounded by his family on May 13, 2012. He was born on December 29, 1927 in Massillon to the late Harry and Alice (Murdoch) Sheaters. He was a 1945 graduate of Washington High School. He married Marilyn L. Wolfe on March 31, 1951, and she survives him. Charles was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater aboard the U.S.S. Terror. He worked 38 years in the construction business, the last 20 years as a Superintendent for Oakes Construction. In 1982 he took a position as an assistant carpenter at Washington High School. In 1989 he was promoted by the school board as the Construction Manager for the new Washington High School. In retirement he enjoyed fishing at Lake Erie, Golfing and visiting his family. He will always be remembered as a big hearted, fun loving, hard working man who loved his family and cared deeply for his friends. He was a member of VFW Post 3124 in Massillon, a life member of the Elks #441, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles –Aerie 190, and a past president and member of Bricklayers Union Local #6 He is survived by his wife of 61 years, his 3 children, Jerry (Cathy) Sheaters, Debbie (Joe) Gleason, Susan (Roger) Forystek; 6 grandchildren, Michael Gleason, Michelle (David) Gleason Bell, Sara Sheaters, Rachel Sheaters, Natalie Forystek, and Kristina Forystek; 4 great-grandchildren, Zachary Sheaters, James Farmer, Noah Bell, and Bailey Bell. Donations can be made to the Washington High School Athletic Fund 207 Oak Avenue S.E., Massillon, OH 44646. In accordance with Charlie's wishes interment will be private.
