Charles A. Bratton 'Skeeter', 81, of Massillon, passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2013 following a year of declining health. Charles was born on December 25, 1931 in Beach City, Ohio the son of the late Charles and Hazel (Sherhag) Bratton. He was a 1949 graduate of Washington High School. In 1951he enlisted into the Navy and served his country proudly aboard the U.S.S. Ticonderoga during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Ohio Edison after 38 years of service in the Engineering Department. He was also a bartender at The Buckeye Club. After retirement he served for 14 years as custodian at the Massillon Woman's Club. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion Post #221 and St. Mary's Catholic Church. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Maynard and Forrest; and his sister Veda Sutherland. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Patsy Paul) Bratton whom he wed on December 28, 1952 and shared 61 years of marriage; his children and their spouses, Bob (Cynthia) Bratton, Mark (Diane) Bratton, Leslie (Tom) Horst, Steven (Cindy) Bratton and David Bratton; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason (Sara), Jaime, Justin (Ashley), Kennedy, and Karsen; his great-grandchildren, Eva and Myra; special family friend, Tammy Smith; and his cat, Holly. A Celebration of Charles' life will be held on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home. Fr. Edward Gretchko will be officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. The K. of C. #554 will have a service at 1:45 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
