Cecil Harold Herrin, age 87 of Jackson Township, passed away Friday at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on October 7, 1922 in Cullman, Alabama the son of the late Samuel and Novel Herrin. Cecil Harold served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 35 years of service. Formally of Akron, he moved to Jackson Township in 1987. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his former spouse, Anna Mae Herrin and his sister Peggy Sue Cook. He is survived by his wife of 17 years of marriage, Marie (Haubert-Ackerman) Herrin; his daughters, Susan (Terry) Welker of Akron and Beth (Ted) Kroeger of Canton; his grandchildren, Brent (Roni) Hall, Ryan Hall, Sarah (Roger) Hall, Rachael, Amy and Hannah Kroeger, Michael & Jamie Welker; his Great-granddaughters, Renee & Melissa Hall; his step-children, Tom Ackerman, Linda Ivan and Mike Ackerman and 9 step-grandchildren and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 12:00 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 5-7 PM and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service of Stark Co. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Stark Co.
