Cathleen R. Houtz

May 6, 1960 — June 24, 2010

Cathleen R. Houtz (DeWalt), age 50, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, June 24 at 7:34 p.m. from a suspected heart attack. Cathy, born in Massillon Ohio in 1960, graduated from Jackson High School in 1978. Cathy recently celebrated 28 years of marriage to her loving husband, Stanley “Lou” Houtz. She was recently honored for 20 years of service for her work with George Waikem Ford in the Accounts Receivable Department. Cathy was a life-long member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Massillon. Surviving are her parents Ronald “Rock” and Greta Sue DeWalt of Marblehead, Ohio, and Mitzi and Raymond Ruwadi of Massillon, Ohio, sisters, Mrs. Christine (Michael) Takerian of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Corinne DeWalt of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Nephew, Branden Takerian, of Oshkosh, WI, and niece, Kendall Takerian, of Waukesha, Wisconsin. Also of note, are the highlight of Cathy’s life, her 4-legged “kitty-boyz”, Moonie, Sunnie, and Grady. Cathy, also known as “Cate” to many of her life-long friends was always ready to help others and share a laugh or two. She loved life and struggled gallantly to overcome health challenges. She was a transplant recipient and lived for 12 years with a donated kidney from her mother. This played an important role in her choice to share her organs, to help others have a chance to live a better life. Cathleen was an avid supporter of the Humane Society and greatly loved all God's creatures. In lieu of flowers, Cathy would have loved it if donations were made in her name to the Humane Society of Stark County. Cathleen will be missed by many friends, relatives, and co-workers. We hope that her spirit and energy will live on in the lives, hearts, and memories of others. A service to celebrate her life will take place on Tuesday,June 29th at 7:00 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Road NE in Massillon with Rev. Henry Harris officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 P.M. Paquelet – A Golden Rule Funeral Home 330-833-3222
