Carolyn Eileen Portmann

Carolyn Eileen Portmann, went to be with our Lord in the early hours of July 9, 2024. Born November 13, 1958, in Dayton, Ohio. The daughter of the late Robert and Patricia (Janning) Girard, she leaves behind her loving husband, Richard Portmann, her cherished sons, Jeremy Portmann (Jennifer) of Spring Lake, NC and Jason Portmann (Kimber) of Jasper, GA, her six grandchildren, Leah, Autumn, Jack, Noelle, Arlo, and Finley. She also leaves behind 6 siblings, Thomas Girard, Steven Girard, Suzanne Girard (John Swartz), Jeff Girard (Andie), Kevin Girard (Nickii), and Nina Nadolny (Jeff), along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A 1977 graduate of Dayton Carroll High School. She went on to serve her country in the United States Air Force, reaching the rank of Sgt. before embarking on a career in the private sector working for Duke Energy, Citrus County Code Enforcement, Lubrizol Corp., and Manpower. She was a dependable organizer and known for her volunteer work with Habitat For Humanity and The Riverside Community Athletic Foundation.

Carol enjoyed card games, camping, and making Christmas candy. She had a beautiful smile and a witty sense of humor. She loved spending time with (and always bragging about) her adored grandchildren. She had a welcoming heart and always made sure everyone was included. Her family will miss her hugs, her thoughtfulness, and the love she had for those around her. She will be missed by so many.

Memorial services to honor and celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held at Paquelet Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Road NE, Massillon OH 44646 on July 27th, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with a service at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest following the service at Sunset Hills Burial Park.
