Carolyn B. Grimes

Carolyn B. Grimes, 76 of Canton, died on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Windsor Medical Center. She was born on May 9, 1934 in Peoria, IL and was the daughter of George and Beatrice (Baird) Van Gundy, who preceded her in death. She was a Canton resident since 1993 after residing in Ligonier, PA for 16 years. While in Ligonier, she owned a real estate business, was the past president of the Chamber of Commerce and was the first president of the Ligonier Valley Y.M.C.A. She enjoyed being with her family, collecting antiques and painting. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Mary Jo Roosa. She is survived by her husband, Donald R. Grimes, whom she married on April 26. 1954, her children and their spouses, Wendy (William) Kearns of Ligonier, Michael (Wendy) Grimes of Cincinnati, OH and Kristine (Rick) McMullen of North Canton, her six grandchildren, Will, Elizabeth, Michael, Jr., Hannah, Kayleigh and Katelyn and her brother, Dr. James (Judy) Van Gundy of Elkins, WV. A service to celebrate the life of Carolyn Grimes will take place on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Reedurban Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lynn Shetzer officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, 1100 Wales Road NE, Massillon on Friday (TONIGHT) from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. and one hour before the service at the church.
