Carol Jean Keck, 76 of Jackson Township, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016. The Lord was her light, music was her ministry and her family was her joy. Her enthusiastic laughter and shimmering silver hair made her the star of every room. She taught every life she touched how to find the humor in pain and light in the darkness. Her friends and family will miss her terribly. She was born on January 24, 1940, in Barberton, the daughter of the late Paul and Kathryn (Redovian) Beal. Carol was a 1958 graduate of Green High School. She was known throughout Stark and Summit Counties as a church organist, pianist and choir director, and provided the soundtrack for hundreds of weddings. Carol was a member of First United Methodist Church in Massillon. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Beal. She is survived by her husband Thomas Keck, whom she married on April 24, 1986; children, Daryl (Amy) Dirham, Wendy (Richard) Ellison, and John (Veronica) Keck; grandchildren, Carolyn, Benjamin, and Michael Ellison; brothers, Paul (Linda) Beal, Robert (Jerry) Beal and Donald (Sally) Beal; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Carol's life will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church Organ Fund: 107 6th Street S.W., Massillon.
