Carol J. Howenstine, 79, passed away surrounded by her family on February 22, 2022, following a brief illness. She was born in Canton on June 10, 1942 to Richard and Mary (Klingensmith) Nye. A 1960 graduate of Jackson High School, she worked for Chase Bank and Early Childhood Resource Center in Canton. She was a member of The Church of the Lakes UMC and The Red Hat Society. Her love of making floral arrangements for friends and family went hand in hand with her love of entertaining. She was dedicated to her family. Carol is survived by her children, Ronald Howenstine, Kathy (Jerry) Maynard and Leigh-Ann (Carlos Miramontes) Howenstine; in-laws, Shirley Nye and William (Dianne) Howenstine; nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, Trevor (Amy) Howenstine, Joshua Howenstine, Heather (P.T.) Messick, Marissa and Paul Messick, Steve (Chris Moniger) Nye and Melissa (Jerome) Zenoby; special friends, Don and Nancy Miller; and her beloved dog Chase. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-six years, James Howenstine; brother, Fred Nye; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Howenstine. The family will receive friends at The Church of the Lakes UMC on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 10am-11am with a Celebration of Carol’s Life at 11am. Pastor Bryan George, officiating.
