Carl E. O'Brien

Carl E. O’Brien, 91 of Massillon, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Carl was born on May 24, 1927 in Canton, the son of Pearl O’Brien. He was a WWII Army veteran Paratrooper. Carl worked for Norfolk & Southern Railroad as an engineer and retired after 38 years of service. Along with his mother, he was preceded in death by the love of his life Gladys O’Brien, and his step-son, Patrick L. Black. Carl and Gladys enjoyed attending auctions, traveling, and entertaining. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He is survived is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Donnie) Rittenhouse, Carol O’Brien; his son, Kelly O’Brien; step-children, Michael R. (Brenda) Black and Tami (Kevin) Crawford; his close nephew, Frank Fry, Jr.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A private viewing will take place at a later date.
