Carl E. Beckett, age 80 of Massillon, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Country Lawn Center in Navarre. Carl was born on June 19, 1930 in Shelby, Ohio the son of the late Walter Dick and Nellie May (Studer) Beckett. Carl served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Sears Roebuck Co. after 29 years of service, and Demmer’s Hardware after 12 years. He was a member of Faith Community Fellowship, the ‘Tired Tigers’ where he played the banjo and the ‘Hymns of Dixie’ where he played the bones. He was known as ‘Mr. Bones’. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Orrie Dell Beckett. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mary “Peg” (Hansel) Beckett whom he married on April 12, 1959; his children, Todd (Cathy) Beckett, Carla Jo (Robert Lachmaier) Beckett, Kelly (Mike) Ries and Mindy (Randy) Westfall; his grandchildren, Amber & Joe Warstler, Brian (Kaylee Luckring) & Caitlin Beckett, Abbie Jo (Jason Radtka), Gunner & Mavrick Ries, Miranda, Kenni & Russel Westfall; his great-grandchildren, Raelyn Beckett & ‘Baby Nugget’; his brother, James Beckett; his special niece, Brenda (Brian) Lewis and many in-laws. Carl’s family would like to thank Country Lawn and Crossroads Hospice for all their care and compassion. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Faith Community Fellowship Church in Massillon, Rev. David Kimberly will officiate. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends may call at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Wednesday from 6-8 P.M and one hour prior to the service at the church.
