Calvin C. Townsend

Calvin Coolidge Townsend, Sr., age 85 of Massillon went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 19, 2012, following an extended illness. He was born October 23, 1926 in Birmingham, AL to the late Rufus & Fannie Bethey Townsend. He served in the US Army and worked at Republic Steel retiring in 1989. He is survived by his son, Calvin C. ( Fannie) Townsend, Jr. of Lavergne, TN, a daughter, Fannie (Robert Hillery) Townsend Obewe of Atlanta, GA, a step-daughter, Carolyn Williams of Birmingham, AL, a brother, Charlie Townsend of Birmingham, AL, eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, a niece and three nephews. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Townsend, three brothers, Amos, Rufus and Jasper Townsend, two sisters, Amy Crawford and Lizzie Upshaw. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 12:30PM at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
