C. Edward Schleig

C. Edward Schleig, age 74 of Canton, died Saturday, February 3, 2007 at his residence. He was born on October 11, 1932 in Shamokin, PA and was the son of the late Harvey & Dorothy (Brennan) Schleig. He was an area resident for most of his life. After Ed served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, he worked as a conductor with Conrail until his retirement in 1994. He was a communicant at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant children, Cynthia and Julie and his brother Richard Schleig. Ed is survived by his wife Vera P. Schleig whom he married on October 26, 1957, his daughters, Christine Schleig and her daughter Michaela both of Akron, Lisa Berkowitz and her children, Jonathan, Brandan & Nicholas of Canton, and daughter Catherine Schleig of Columbus, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call at the Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5-8 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Cancer Research Society.
