Bryant Shawn Friedman, 54, of Massillon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023. He was born in Canton on August 4, 1968, to William Friedman and the late Fannie Mae Turner.
He was a 1986 graduate of Canton South High School where he also played basketball for the Wildcats.
Bryant proudly served his country in the United States Army for 8 years where his military specialty was cooking. His passion for cooking extended well after his military career and he worked as a cook for the SandPit Cafe and Lounge.
He loved being with his friends, listening to rap music, watching old movies and spending time with family, especially with his beloved daughter, Briante’.
Bryant leaves to cherish his memory, his children Briante’ L. Friedman, Kashaunte Friedman, Daquan Nix, and Nazaria Short; loving father William (Lori) Friedman; siblings Starlett (Chezaraye) Isles-Burns and William Scott Turner-Friedman and Tina Friedman; former spouse Shawntay Troupe; specials friends, Carlos Peterson, Thom Wilson, Ben Ball, Kevin Montgomery; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Bryant was also preceded in death by his beloved niece and nephew, Chase and Janae Isles.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 13th from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. A homegoing celebration will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Burial will be held on Friday, April 14th at 10:30 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery where military rites will be performed. Those attending the burial will meet at Paquelet Funeral Home at 9:15 a.m. on Friday and process to the cemetery together.
