Bonnie J. Kerr, 83, of Massillon, passed away on December 28, 2022, at Bel Air Care Nursing Home in Alliance. She was born in Levi, West Virginia on September 29, 1939, to the late Raymond and Bernice (Jones) Dawson.
She was a graduate of the former DuPont High School in DuPont City, West Virginia.
Bonnie gave the term “motherly love” a whole new meaning with the care and compassion she had towards children. She not only was a lifelong member of Epworth United Methodist Church, but she was a caregiver for the church nursery which she absolutely loved doing. She also was a member of the choir and part of the “Basement Bunch”, organizing meals and events that the church held.
Outside of church, Bonnie’s love for children remained and she worked at Donna’s Daycare for over 15 years.
When she wasn’t caring for other children, Bonnie was spending time with her own. They spent many weekends and summers together as a family at Rocky Pines Campgrounds in Cambridge. They also took a yearly trip from Ohio to North Carolina, stopping along the way to visit family and friends on the way down and on the way back.
In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Milford Kerr.
Bonnie will deeply missed by her sons Michael (Lisa) Kerr and Patrick Kerr; grandchildren Patrick Jr., Jacquelyn, Melissa, Andrew, Leann and Sean; great-grandchildren Amiyah, Aiden, Camdyn, Matthew and Ezra; as well as her beloved twin sister Bettie Dawson.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 7th from 11am to 12pm at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. A graveside service will take place immediately following, at Brookfield Cemetery.
