Bobby E. Thompson

Bobby E. Thompson, age 75 of Canton, passed away on January 06, 2022. He was born in Alabama on June 05, 1946, to the late Bishop and Vilettie (Bodiford) Thompson. He served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. After military service Bobby worked briefly at Timken Roller Bearing, and later went onto work as a Hair Stylist for more than 50 years. He enjoyed cooking (especially his banana split dessert), photography, dressing well, but most importantly spending time with his family and friends. He was a long-time member of Greater Bethel Church in Canton and was member of Ohio Association of Beauticians. Bobby was known for his sense of humor, joy of life, being able light up any room he walked into, and his generosity to his family and friends. He is survived by his brothers; Willie “Rags” (Mary Nell) Frank Thompson, Elisha Thompson, James T. (Hope) Thompson and his sister Merdis Bray; survived by godchildren that he cared for and loved as if they were his own, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Bobby was preceded in death his parents; his sisters Inie Mae Bozeman, Ella Kate Hall, Lettie Ruth Demmings and Zora Jackson; his brothers Gentle “G.D.” Donald Thompson and Benjamin Wayne Thompson; his nephew Bruce Reynolds; niece Jeanine Thompson; his trusted friend, Bobby Shipp. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 11a.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 10a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, where Bobby will be honored by the U.S. Army for his honorable and faithful service to his country.
