Blaine E. Byer age 93, of Perry Heights, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Aultman Compassionate Care Center. Blaine was born on November 2, 1919 in Massillon, the son of William Byer and Lydia (Studer) Marang. Blaine was a lifelong resident of Richville and Perry Heights. He worked for the Timken Co. for 341/2 years retiring in 1974. Blaine grew up farming in Richville as a young man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, building bird houses and at one time drove Stock Car at Reedurban Race Track. He was also a member of Faith Community Church in Canton. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his infant brother Wilbur, brother Warren and sister Freda Hykes and brother Samuel Marang. He is survived by his wife Lucille (Benish) Byer with whom he married on October 4, 1940; his children and their spouses Blaine Byer Jr., Bonnie Kirkbride, Thomas (Barb) Byer, and Virgil (Linda) Byer; his brother Harold Dean (Donna) Byer; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 7 great great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Blaine's Life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home. Pastor Eldon Smith will be Officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday (TONIGHT) from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Aultman Compassionate Care in Blaine's name.
