Billy L. Harper

Billy Leon Harper, age 75 of Fort Mill, SC, formally of Ohio, faced his final days with courage and humor. He passed away Feb. 16, 2010, surrounded by family and friends. During his career he severed in the US Army, worked for Norfolk & Western Railway, owned a beauty salon in Lake Cable and built up an accounting practice over twenty years. After retirement, Billy and his wife enjoyed traveling both around the country and abroad, ultimately settling in Fort Mill, SC to be close to their daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bill said many times, that his years in the Carolinas were the best in his life. Billy was preceded in death by parents his Ora and Rufus as well as brothers Carl and Tommy. He will be deeply missed by; his wife of 57 years Bettie Virginia (Little) Harper; their three children, Douglas (Preeta) Harper of Australia, Marilyn Hanna of Lowell, NC and Arthur Harper of Austin, TX.; grandchildren, Chris Hanna, Chantel Deem (Scott) and Ginger Harper; great-grandchildren, Austin and Allie Deem; brothers and sisters, Ellen Chadwick, Bobby, Wanda Solon, Rodger and Carolyn Jackson as well as extended family and friends.
