Billy B. Burns

Billy B. Burns, age 81 of Massillon, went home to be the Lord on Tuesday, September 24, 2013. He was born on April 12, 1932 in Morgantown, WV and was the son of the late James Albert and Emma (Hilpert) Burns. Billy was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Army. He retired from Republic Engineered Steel following 38 years of service. He was a member of the Massillon Baptist Temple. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Billy and Alice travelled by motor home to the eastern states. They were members of Family Motor Coach and Good Sam Camping. They owned a campsite in Preston County, WV for several years to be closer to their families. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Thomas, Maxwell and James Burns and three sisters, Edna Bennett, Edith Trader and Phoebe Spitznogle. Billy is survived by his wife Alice (Mowery) Burns, whom he married on September 11, 1955, his daughter, A. Faith (Greg) Karnes, two grandchildren, Donald (Kristy) Clark and Danielle (Jacob Welton) Karnes and a great granddaughter, Aireona. Also surviving are two brothers, George and Raymond Burns and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at the Bruce D. Cummons Chapel at the Massillon Baptist Temple with Rev. Cecil Thayer officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home on Thursday from 6-8 P.M. and on Friday at the church one hour before the service. Memorials may be made to Meadow Wind Health Care Center, 300 23rd St. NE, Massillon, OH 44646. The family wishes to thank Meadow Wind Health Care Center and Tridia Hospice staff, Sabrina, Jessika and Jane for their love and care for the Burns family and especially for Billy.
