Beverly Louise Converse

November 17, 1923 — June 20, 2010

Beverly Louise Converse passed gently away on June 20, 2010, in Altercare of Navarre. She was born on November 17, 1923, in a home in Brookfield, west of Massillon, to the late Lucinda and Albert Brown. Beverly was a 1941 graduate of Washington High School in Massillon and attended the First Church of Christ Scientist where she served in many capacities including running the local Christian Science Reading Room. Montgomery Ward employed her until it closed in the women's accessory department. Beverly was a gifted pianist, enjoyed painting with watercolors, growing and arranging flowers, and preparing possibly the best meals on the planet. She and her husband hunted for arrowheads in local plowed fields every spring for many years when they weren't attending antique auctions for fun. Beverly will probably best be remembered for her laughter and her caring ways. She showed by her example the meaning of kindness. She served on the staff of the Massillon Make-A-Way Center, and was there every Saturday-rain or shine. Upon her retirement, she was honored with a plaque at a special gathering for her twenty years of service. Survivors include her husband of sixty-eight years, Julian Converse, her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Bob Geltz of Jackson Township, her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Pat (Elavsky) Converse of Gahanna, and her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Ellen (Williamson) Converse of North Canton; sister, Joan Epler. Also her grandchildren, Michael Flanagan, Michelle Cleveland, Christopher Converse, Brittany Converse, and Cody Converse, and one great grandchild, Cameron Cleveland. Her funeral service will be 2 PM Wednesday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Her final resting place will be Brookfield Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 1 PM until the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the Massillon First Church of Christ Scientist Messages of support and sympathy can be sent to the family at www.paquelet.com.
