Beverly K. Royer, age 61 of Massillon, died on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on September 22, 1947 in Canton, Ohio and was the daughter of the late John C. and Verdie Retha (Smotherman) Miller. She was a lifelong area resident. Following her graduation from Otterbein College, Beverly taught at Dover Elementary School for 5 years and then taught at Perry Local Schools until her retirement. She was an active member of the Church of the Lakes United Methodist Church where she participated in Bible Study and the Emmaus Walk. She also helped make the clothing at LifeHope Community Church for pre-mature babies. She is survived by her husband, Ronald H. Royer, whom she married on August 12, 1972, her daughter and son in law, Jodene and William Rectenwald of Red Wing, MN, her son Keith Royer who is attending The University of Toledo, her brother Forest R. Miller of Canal Fulton and her nephews, Bob (Robin) George, Ryan (Kristi) George and Randy (Christie) George. A service to celebrate the life of Beverly K. Royer will take place at the Church of the Lakes United Methodist Church, 5944 Fulton Drive NW, Canton, Ohio on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Janet Zimmerman officiating and Dr. Bryan George co-officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Union Lawn Cemetery in Navarre, Ohio.
