Betty Fox (nee, Elizabeth Margaret Dergel), age 92, formerly of Massillon, died Sunday, July 10, at Brewster Parke Nursing Home. She was born on July 4, 1918 in Alderson, Oklahoma, to Frank and Helen (Warmack)Dergel. She moved to New Philadelphia, Ohio, as a young child and graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1936. A 1940 graduate of White Cross School of Nursing in Columbus, OH, she worked as a registered nurse at Union Hospital in Dover and Massillon City Hospital before becoming an industrial nurse at the former Union Drawn Steel. She retired from Union Drawn in 1983. Betty was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She is survived by her children, Web (Penny) Fox, Jr. and Diane (Rich) Kurlich; her grandchildren, John (Laura) Fox, Nancy (Doug) Ardell, Heather (David) Clinton, Chuck Fox and Richie and Andrew Kurlich; her great-grandchildren Zach and Rachel Fox, Hailey, J.T., and Grant Ardell, and Hannah and Jackson Clinton, her brother, Ralph Bittler and her special niece Becky (Joe) Richards. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Web Fox, Sr., and her brother, Tony Dergel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 16, at the Arnold Lynch Funeral Home on Wales Road in Massillon. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service. Burial will be at the Dover Cemetery in Dover, OH. Donations may be made to the Stark County Humane Society or Faith Lutheran Church.
