Betty Jane Tasseff

April 9, 1927 — January 24, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Betty Jane (Reed) Tasseff announces her death at the age of 93 on January 24, 2021. As were her long time wishes, Betty passed away at home surrounded by family members. Born April 9, 1927 in Orrville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Robert James and Lillie Belle (Plummer) Reed. She is a member of the Church of God, a Worldwide Association, Inc., Akron/Canton. Betty will be fondly remembered for her love of dancing, especially polka dancing with Big Al; her favorite song “One Day at a Time”; and her famous response when asked how she was doing. She would reply, “still kicking, just not as high” followed by a demonstration of how high she could kick!! Betty’s love for animals, especially her dog Buttercup, will long be remembered. Betty was a hard worker, even working into her 80’s. She had a caring and loving way of helping anyone in need. She dearly loved all her family, including her church family. She was loved and will be deeply missed by many that knew her. She is survived by her sons, Dennis Poling and Russell (Mary Ann) Poling, son-in-law, Billy Gibson, sister-in-law Helen Woolley, brothers-in-law, Emil Dominick, and John (Shirley) Tasseff, and many grandchildren, great and great, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Special thank you to Dr. Jennifer Tarr, and her caregiver, Carol, who treated her like family, Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alex Tasseff, whom she married on May 31, 1969; daughter, Janet Gibson; son, Robert Poling; brothers, Robert, Richard, Paul, and Raymond Reed; sisters, Naomi ‘Dudie’ Werntz, Mary Stoll, Dorothy ‘Edie’ Fisher, Norma Reed and Virginia Dominick.
