Betty Jane Calai

Betty Jane Calai, 87, of Massillon, passed away July 10, 2024. She was born in Uhrichsville, Ohio on March 4, 1937 to Pete and Margaret Calai.

Betty held several jobs throughout the years, she worked for Canton Provision Meat Packing, Superior Brand Meats, General Electric and the Hoover Company.

Over the years Betty loved hosting friends for big Christmas dinner parties. She also enjoyed when the children of friends visited, going to watch the Guardians baseball team, including walking the bases, or watching the game on TV. She enjoyed going out to eat with friends and spending time with her extended family at home or traveling to spend time with them at the Outer Banks. One of her favorite places to eat was La Pizzeria. She also, enjoyed watching movies, British Box TV, The Young and the Restless and the Bold & The Beautiful. You dare not disturb Betty during her shows.

Betty was a staple in our community. She was a strong woman and was not afraid to speak her mind. She was like a “Crunchy Klondike Bar”.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Pete D. Calai (father), Margaret Calai (Freed)(mother) and loving wife Patricia Sellers and her beloved dogs Precious and Angel.

She is survived by her extended family Susan Frantz, George Frantz, Sarah Frantz, Julianna (David) and Annabelle Lee and many loving friends.
