Betty J. Spillman, age 87 of Massillon, passed away Sunday evening at Hospitality House following an extended illness. She was born in Mt. Eaton on December 7, 1918 to the late Clayton and Ruth (Marshall) Beckler and was a resident of Massillon her entire life. Betty was a 1936 Washington High School Graduate. She retired from Bordner’s in 1984 as a Meat Wrapper following 35 years of service. Betty enjoyed spending time outdoors especially fishing and boating in Canada. She was of the Methodist faith. On August 13, 1940, she married Frederick L. Spillman. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by; her son Robert Spillman who passed away in 1996 and a sister Virginia R. Eckhart. Betty is survived by; Granddaughter Cheryl Spillman – Levine of Orange City, Fl, Grandsons; Robert Spillman, Jr. of Cuyahoga Falls and Michael Spillman of Canton, Great Grandchildren; Rachel Levine and Michael Spillman, II and a niece Onilee Shanklin. There are no calling hours or services. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the American Heart Association.
