Betty J. Rueckert

Betty J. Rueckert age 84 of Massillon, passed away Wednesday at Meadow Wind Health Care Center. Betty was born on April 19, 1923 in Canton to the late Norbert and Sarah Elizabeth (Price) Muehlheim and lived her life in the Canton / Massillon area. She had been active in the PTA of Massillon and the YMCA. Betty was a member for over 50 years at First Baptist Church in Massillon where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and making candy and baked goods. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Walt” C. Rueckert on July 7, 2005; brothers, John, Leonard and Herman Muehlheim; sisters, Eleanor Newton and Delores Sweaney and brother-in-law John Rueckert. Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jake (Terry) Rueckert; grandchildren, Jennett (Andy) Smithhisler, Adam and Trevor Rueckert all of Massillon; sisters, Lois and Dolly Muehlheim both of Canton, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services celebrating Betty’s life will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Massillon with her pastor Dr. Roger S. Alber officiating. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the services on Monday. Interment will follow the services at Massillon Cemetery.
