Betty J. Hooten, age 86, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013. She was born on August 22, 1926 in Reading Pennsylvania. She had been a Canton Resident since 1947. She worked for many years at Bank One as an operator. She was a longtime volunteer at the Salvation Army, the Eastern Star Adah – Chapter 112 working with the youth. Betty loved to travel and shop. She was devoted to her family and her community. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She is survived by her grand-daughter Stephanie (Dartanion) Crider; her grandson Andre Hooten; her great-grandchildren Brettanie Crider, D'Andre Lautenschlager and Ashlee Lautenschlager; her sister Aloha Goodwin; her extended family Rick, Arlene, Angela and Tyler Williams; and her close friends Mrs. Evelyn Byrd and Mrs. Johnnie Jackson. A host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son Rick Hooten; her brother Fred Searles; and her daughter-in-law Carole Hooten. A Homegoing service will be held at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 1:30 P.M., Rev. Reginald Hye officiating.
