September 22, 1922 — July 3, 2009

Betty Jane DeHoff (Hasler), 86, passed away July 3, 2009. She was born in Massillon, Ohio on September 22, 1922, to Atlee and Esther (Welton) Hasler. Her birth was at home, on the farm, located at Cherry Rd and Kenyon. Just across Kenyon was Dublin School, the one-room school house, that Betty, her brother and three sisters attended. Her mother was the custodian and Betty would help her by banking the coal stove and cleaning the chalkboards and erasers. Betty attended Massillon Washington High School and was active in gym class, known for being a daredevil on the “the rings”. Married in 1947, Betty and Don, along with their two daughters, moved to California from 1959 until 1972. They first became McDonald’s Owner Operators (partnership) in Carson City, Nevada (1973), and then on their own in Galveston, Texas (1975-1999). Betty was especially proud of owning the McDonald’s in Galveston, achieving 2 Outstanding Store awards, the Ronald Award (1987) for outstanding community involvement and many other business and civic awards, including Woman of the Year from the Boys & Girls Club. Her proudest achievement was the development and support of the Galveston Ronald McDonald House, dedicating the first bedroom in memory of her husband, Don. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Don DeHoff (1975), and daughter Diana Love (2004). She is survived by her daughter Debbie (Jim) Brown of Massillon (formerly Galveston), granddaughters, Lisa Love (Gary) Gutierrez of Galveston, Texas, Tina Love of Massillon, Tammy Love of Houston Texas, Sarah (Matt) Aldridge of Justin, Texas, and Jenny (Chris) Haney of Akron, Ohio, grandson, Donald Salinas of Galveston, Texas Great Grandchildren Christy Rodriguez (Murphy Richard), Jessica, Brandon, Emily and Justin Hi, and Brody Aldridge. Great-Great Granddaughter Cloey Richard.
