Bertha "Betty" E. Hiegl, 93 passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012. She was born to the late Otto and Rose (Kupfur) Galey in Massillon on September 30, 1918. Betty was a 1936 graduate of Washington High School. She married Stephen J. Hiegl on February 25, 1945, and they were together 67 years until his passing on March 16, 2012. She worked at Ohio Public Service for 12 years during the 1930's and 40's, as an assistant manager at the Lincoln Theater for 9 years, and finally The Ohio Water Company for 22 years until her retirement in 1981. In retirement Betty enjoyed her family and traveling throughout Europe and loved spending time in Florida. Betty will always be remembered as a kind and caring person. She is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law Rick and Barbara Hiegl of Massillon, grandson Mark Hiegl of Cincinnati, great grandchildren MacKayla and Mason Hiegl of Cincinnati, sisters Ruth Galey of Arlington, Virginia, Gertrude King of Massillon and a brother Charles Galey of Columbus. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Otto Galey and Edward Galey. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Paquelet Funeral Home, Pastor Rhonda Gallagher, officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of the service.
