Berneta "Bernie" Ellen DeOrio, 72, of Massillon, passed away on December 8, 2022 at Cleveland Clinic / Mercy Hospital. She was born on June 24, 1950 to the late Kenneth and Elyvene (Reed) Ruby in Byesville, Ohio. She was a 1968 graduate of Jackson High School and 1970 graduate of the Ohio State University. She married Joseph A. DeOrio III on June 24, 1976 and they shared 46 years together until her passing.
Bernie worked as a Mammographer for Massillon Hospital and the Stark County Women's Clinic until her retirement. She was an avid reader, loved working outside in her garden, and working on her tan. Her home was open to everyone and anyone and in return was loved by many. Bernie was a kind and caring soul with a strong moral compass and believed in always doing the right thing. She will forever be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother as well as a second mom to many, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Bernie is survived by her loving Husband, Joseph; her sons Joe A DeOrio IV, and Chris D (Krissy) DeOrio; her granddaughter, Bren M Jenkins; her brother, Ken (Kathy) Ruby, her nephews Brian Ruby and Mark Ruby and her niece, Amanda Ruby and a host of family and friends.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 6-8p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon.
