Benny Ray Ferrell, 68, passed away peacefully at Mt. Vernon Developmental Center surrounded by his loving staff on Thursday, March 14, 2024. Benny was born in Massillon, Ohio on October 9, 1955 the son of the late Sidney and Evelyn (Steele) Ferrell.
Benny enjoyed coffee, collecting shoes, listening to Country music like his mother and watching classic television. Benny participated in the woodshop at Mt. Vernon Developmental Center. He lived at Apple Creek Developmental Center until its closure, prior to relocating to Mt. Vernon Developmental Center.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Ferrell Depew.
He is survived by his sister, Brenda (Bruce) Ferrell Sampsel; nephews and niece, Matthew (Christine) Ferrell, Israel (Nicole) Depew, Nathan Sampsel, and Ariana Sampsel; grandnephew, Joshua Depew; grandniece, Abigail Depew; and brother-in-law, David Depew.
Benny's family would like to thank the staff at Mt. Vernon Developmental Center for their loving compassion and care.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 10-11 am at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home with the funeral service following at 11 am. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Knox County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
