Benjamin Joseph Mitson

Benjamin Joseph Mitson, 82, passed away at home on Saturday, September 20, 2014, following an extended illness. Born May 22, 1932 in Smelterville, Idaho to the late Harry and Harriet Mitson He was a veteran, commissioned as Lieutenant in the US Army from 1950-1953, serving in Korea on the 5th Regimental Combat Team. Benjamin worked for the Halliburton Company 1955-1966, Co-founded Albenco Cementing Co. in 1966, Founder and President of Benmit Hydro-Testers, Inc. 1973, Owner of Squaw Bay Resort, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho 1984-1997 and served on the Board of Directors of Nilodor, Inc. 1985-2014. Ben was an active and longtime member of Bethel Temple, Assembly of God on 25th St. Canton. He enjoyed the outdoors which included fishing and gardening. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dolores (Benson) Mitson ; their children, Connye Cunningham, Les Mitson and wife Mindi and Cris Mitson and fiancée Patti Boord; 11 grandchildren, Jeffrey Cunningham, Jennifer Woodruff, Brian Cunningham, Dion Walrath, Marcie Pryor, Jesse Mitson, Emily Anne Heden, Aaron Mitson, Nathan Mitson, and Tiffanie Miller; 17 Great grandchildren , Casey, Dillon , Sadie, Chloe, Evie, Jack, Ella, Madison, Leayana, Gloriana, Maela, Jade, Hailey, Caden, Kurt, Kennedy and Konner; and his brother , Claude C. Mitson. He is also preceded in death by his son, David Mitson, granddaughter, Emily (Mitson) Lavy, brother, Leslie A. Mitson and a son-in-law, Jeffrey Cunningham Sr. Friends and family may call at the Paquelet Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 from 5:00PM-7:00PM. A funeral service will be held at the Bethel Temple, Assembly of God on 25th ST, Canton at 11:00AM on Thursday, September 25, 2014. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
