Barbara Ulrich Hoover

Barbara Ulrich Hoover, age 78 of North Canton, passed away Friday, January 21, 2011. Barbara was born on October 12, 1932 in Massillon the daughter of the late Albert and Margaret “Peg” Sanderson Ulrich. Barbara was a 1950 graduate of Washington High School and graduated from Ohio University in 1954 with a B.A. in Elementary Education where she was a member of Alpha Delta Phi. She taught in Akron, East Liverpool and retired from teaching at Reedurban Elementary after 32 years. She was a volunteer and member at Spring Hill and a lifetime member of the Massillon Woman’s Club. Barbara was an avid sailor, traveler and gardener. She is survived by her husband Robert B. Hoover with whom she married on March 6, 1954; her children, Kristen M. (Rusty) Webker of Andover and David J. (Linda) Hoover of Parma; her grandchildren: Sarah Webker, Eric (Julie) McElroy, Jerad and Alyssa McElroy and her great-grandchildren, Matilda and Maisy McElroy. A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Rev. Vernon Palo will be officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Massillon or Canton Salvation Army.
