Barbara S. Shannon

Barbara S. Shannon, 87, of Massillon, passed away on January 25, 2023 . She was born on January 16, 1936 to the late Virginia and Gerald Maple. She was 1954 graduate of New Philadelphia High School, and later graduated from the Massillon School of Nursing. She married Richard F. Shannon on March 02, 1957 and they shared 56 years together until his passing in 2013.

Barbara worked at Massillon Community Hospital as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years. She enjoyed reading, gardening and working around the house. Barbara was devoted to her family and was known as a kind and caring person.

Barbara was survived by her children Diana M. Rechkemmer and Richard M. Shannon; her grandchildren Damien Rechkemmer and Zac Faas; her great-granddaughter Riley Marie Rechkemmer; her sister Bonnie (Don) Warner. In addtion to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her sister Betty Tarulli.
