Barbara Lynne Miller, age 68, gained her angel wings on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Barb fought strong and faithfully during a brief illness, but now rests in her Savior’s arms, at peace. In 2009 she retired from the City, then was immediately hired at Akron Children’s Hospital. At the age of 61, she returned to school, earning her BSN and MSN from the University of Phoenix in 2011. During this time, Barb was also an adjunct professor at Walsh University, teaching the advanced nursing students for 6 years, before retiring in 2017. She loved her children she cared for and for her students. She also dedicated much time to the Massillon Salvation Army, serving as past Chairperson. She was a member of Rivertree Christian Church in Jackson as well. In August of 1970, Barb married the love of her life Ted Miller. It was really Ted’s 1957 Chevy that attracted her, or so she said. They enjoyed 48 wonderful years of marriage. Together they brought two wonderful sons in to the family, Steven Ronald (Alexas), and Michael Thomas (Laura). The have 5 beautiful grandchildren, Eve, Peyton, Race, Matthew and Quinn. Oh, how she loved her grandchildren. Her family was her life. Barb and Ted loved to travel, and she always considered herself a “beach girl”, having traveled to the Caribbean many times. Their travels also included trips to Europe, Mexico, Panama Canal, and Hawaii. Barb was also known by her peers as the “Biker Grandma”, as she enjoyed traveling with her husband on their motorcycle. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20th at Rivertree Christian Church in Jackson. A memorial Service will be held following visitation. A private burial will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve Military Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Akron Children’s Hospital of Akron, or the Salvation Army of Massillon. The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors at Meadow Wind HealthCare Center, the Danbury Senior Living Center of Massillon, and Great Lakes Caring for their wonderful care and love during her illness. Barb was a friend to all, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a devoted nurse to those who needed her love and a healing hand. We all love you so much, till we meet again.
