Barbara Ann Vaccani

Barbara Ann Vaccani age 73 of Massillon passed away Sunday November 23, 2008 at Affinity Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born August 24, 1935 in Massillon to the late John & Barbara Hopp. Barbara was a 1953 graduate of Washington High School. Barb retired from Republic Steel in 1998 after 30 years of service. She was an avid bowler for 30 years at Star Way Lanes, as well as a loyal Tiger fan. Barb enjoyed bird watching, spending time on her computer and traveling to Myrtle Beach. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers: Tom & Joe Hopp. Barb is survived by her husband Frank J. Vaccani with whom she shared 52 years of marriage on June 2nd.; two daughters and a son in law, Denise & Jeff Smith and Linda Vaccani; two granddaughters Lisa Smith and Stacey Markham both of San Diego, CA, her brother Bob Hopp of Massillon and her sisters, Patty (Jim) Wash of Wanatah, IN, Mary (Steve) Ottinger of Navarre and Margaret Kerstetter of Massillon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Wednesday at St. Barbara’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-7 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Donation in Barbara’s name can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333. A special ‘Thanks’ to Dr. Kerrie David, Nursing Staff at Affinity Medical Center and the Hospice Team. Messages of support and sympathy can be sent to the family at www.paquelet.com.
