Barbara A. Speck, 78, of Massillon, passed away at her home on February 6, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Massillon on March 23, 1942 to the late Thomas and Eileen (Beebe) Gard. Barb was a 1960 graduate of Washington High School and graduate of Stark State College where she received her associate’s degree. Barb worked for Massillon City Schools as a secretary and then retired from Stark State College where she was the secretary for the vice president. She was also a former member of First Baptist Church in Massillon. Barb enjoyed traveling with her husband Cameron, reading and baking. Her greatest passion of all was her family whom she loved dearly. She was very proud to be a wife, mother and grandmother. Barb will be deeply missed by her son Curtis (Betsy) Speck and her daughter and amazing caregiver to her mom, Melissa Speck & Michael Peel; her grandchildren who were the light of her life, Anthony Crossen, Carley Thomas, Cayden Speck and Kaitlyn Speck; and brother-in-law Robert Kompara. In addition to her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Cameron Speck and her sisters Brenda Kompara and Linda Moore. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 12th at 7 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. until the time of the service.
