April S. Clevenger

April S. Clevenger, age 63 of N. Canton, passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2010. She was born on March 29, 1946 in Canton, the daughter of Jim and Audrey Matthews. April was a 1964 graduate of Lincoln High School and a 1968 graduate of Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in Education. April began working as a dispatcher for the North Canton Police Department in 1981. In 1983 she became the first full time female police officer of the North Canton Police Department. She retired from the Department on January 20, 2007. She enjoyed bird watching and spent countless hours tracing her family genealogy. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and walking on the shores of Maine. She is survived by her loving husband Charles D. Clevenger whom she married on September 5, 2002; her children and their spouses, Schawn (Melissa) Stoiber, Shannon Stoiber, Shayna (Jason) Newsome and Shane Stoiber; her grandchildren, Spencer, Kailey, Trinity, Tallon, Jason, Emily and Eric; her parents, Audrey Matthews and James (Patricia) Matthews. A service to celebrate April’s life will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Dr. Roger Alber will be officiating.
