Anne M. Arnold

January 5, 1926 — May 2, 2009

Anne M. Arnold, 83 of Massillon, passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2009, at home surrounded by her loving family. Anne was born on January 5, 1926, in Barberton, Ohio, and was the daughter of the late George and Anna (Bahil) Struharik. She graduated from Barberton High School in 1944. She was a Massillon resident since 1955. Joining the Massillon Mothers of Twins Club in 1959, she held various offices during her membership and was chosen Mother of the Year in 1965 and 1978. She retired from the American Red Cross in 1987. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Massillon. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, bowling and baking, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and close friends. Although she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1988, pancreatic cancer in 1997, and ovarian cancer in 2004, she lived her life with courage, dignity, grace and honor, and a sense of humor and wit. She was an inspiration to all who knew and loved her and will be greatly missed. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William L. “Bill” Arnold on June 3, 2007, her sisters Helen White and Betty Kozarevich, brother-in-law Elish White, and nephew Billy White. She is survived by her children, Susanne Clapper of Massillon, Shelley Bammerlin and her husband Bill of Massillon, her twin sons, William Arnold, II, of Massillon and John Arnold of Royal Oak, Michigan, her beloved granddaughters, Erica and Ashley Bammerlin, cherished nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 P.M. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon with Rev. Leslie Peine and Dr. William Harvey officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Memorial Park in Akron, Ohio. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-8 P.M. and on Friday one hour before the service.
