Alma L. Davis-Smith

Alma L. Davis-Smith, age 88 of Massillon, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at Brewster Parke Convalescent Center in Brewster surrounded by her family. She was born on July 30, 1918 in Massillon to the late William and Augusta Parker. As a child she was raised by her mother and step-father, Donald Burkhart, after her father passed away. Alma worked for the Massillon State Hospital, Doctor’s Hospital, Parkview Manor Nursing Home and private duty as an L.P.N. for 42 yrs. She was a member of Massillon Moose Lodge #481. Alma enjoyed listening to country music, Massillon Tiger football games and especially being with her family. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by husbands, Dale H. Davis and Ward Smith; daughter, Karen Miller; grandsons, Dennis Smith and Gregg Mann; sister, Gladys Schulz; brother, Russell Parker. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (John) Reidenbach and Denise (Harvey) Woods both of Massillon; son, Gary (Diana) Davis of Massillon; brother, Clarence (Doris) Burkhart of AZ; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Alma’s family would like to thank the staff at Brewster Parke for all their compassion and kindness. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 30, 2007 at the Paquelet Funeral Home at 1:00 P.M. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 P.M. at the funeral home. Rev. Robert B. Piatt will be Officiating. Burial will follow at Brookfield Cemetery.
