Allen James Knish

Allen James Knish, 77, of Navarre, passed away at home on October 15, 2023, following a brief illness.

He was born on October 11, 1946 to the late Alex Knish, Sr and the late Evelyn (Hager) Gage of Cleveland, OH.

Allen was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving on the USS Saratoga (CVA-60) and served 40 years with the Coast Guard Auxiliary, where he served as the District Commodore, Flotilla Commander and finally Diversity Officer. He was dedicated to his family and being of service to people. He enjoyed golfing, westerns and watching sports. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 32 years of service.

Allen is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elinor (Bryant) Knish; son, Allen J. (Heather) Knish, Jr; six grandchildren, Hannah, Elizabeth, Jeffery, Julius, Aneilya, and Jaycee; great - grandchildren, Emmett and Caroline; sister, Shirley Ruby and twin brother, Alex J. Knish; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Doyle; and brother-in-law, Reinhard Ruby.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 2pm-5pm at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home, Massillon, Ohio.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023, 10:45am at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville, Ohio.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
