Alice J. (Hursh) Smith

Alice J. (Hursh) Smith, 83 of Massillon, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born in Dayton, OH on February 3, 1931 the daughter of the late Donald G. and Gwendolyn B. Hursh. Alice was a homemaker. She was a proud member of AA, celebrating 21 years of sobriety. She enjoyed the many friendships she encountered there. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years William L. Smith in 1989 and her fiancee' of 21 years William C. Wade in 2013. She always said how lucky she was to have had two great loves in her life. Also preceding her in death where her two brothers, Donald G. Hursh II and William D. Hursh. She is survived by her children, Gwen (Mark) Limbach of Massillon, William P. Smith of Sevierville, TN, Cynthia (Don) McCrae of Canton and Timothy (Jon Bridges) Smith of Portland, OR; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and her brother, Paul (Fran) Hursh of NC. Her children would like to thank the staff at Crossroads Hospice for all the compassion and care that was given to their mother. A Celebration of Alice's Life will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 7 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home with Chaplain Brian Suntken, Officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday. Private inurnment will be at Brookfield Cemetery.
