Albert J. Bryan age 95 of Massillon passed away Thursday October 29, 2009 at Rose Lane Health Care Center. Al was born January 8, 1914 in Bridgeport, OH to the late Charles & Ida (Khoury) Bryan. Al attended St. Mary’s School through the 10th grade and was a 1938 graduate of Washington High School. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corp and the Civilian Military Training Corp. During WW II, he served in the Army in the Panama Canal Zone. Following the war, he worked at the Ravenna Arsenal and later joined the Ohio State Highway Patrol and retired after 28 years. He was a driver’s license examiner in Canton for many years. Albert was a Lieutenant in the Ohio Sate Highway Patrol Auxiliary. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, lifetime member of American Legion Post #221, and a 60 year season ticket holder at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. Albert was a humble man with great wisdom. He loved his faith, family and enjoyed all sports especially golf, football and baseball. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Blanche Bryan, and three brothers, John, Richard ‘Dick’ and Chester. Al is survived by three sisters; Virginia Bryan, Florence Lannen and Rosemary (Steve) Wiggington, brothers Charles ‘Chuck’ Bryan, James ‘Jim’ (Sally) Bryan, sister in law, Janice Bryan and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, his pastor Fr. Raymond Paul will officiate. His final resting place will be St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 PM Monday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. Special ‘thanks’ to Smiley and his restaurant staff for the kindness and respect they have always shown to Albert.
