Alan ‘Enos’ Highben age 80 of Massillon was taken in his sleep by the hand of God on Sunday March 22, 2009 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Alan was born May 12, 1928 in Massillon to the late Andrew & Susan (Pushon) Highben. He was a 1946 graduate of Washington School and entered the Army Air Corps after school and received an honorable discharge. Alan worked 40 + years at Quality Castings Co in Orrville. Al was a member of Ohio Country & Western Music Association, Canton Chapter. He was recognized for his ability to sing, tell jokes, and play the guitar. In addition he was a former member of FOE #190. He had a great love of woodworking, landscaping, and gardening. His greatest treasures were his family and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Norma Duffie and a brother, Edward Highben. He was a great man that will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Beulah (Bush) Highben, four children: David Highben, Wayne Highben, Larry Highben and Linda (Schindler) Highben; a brother Ernie Highben, two grandchildren; Davey Highben and Robert (BJ) Schindler and four great grandchildren; Kelcey, Karson, Kyler and Isaac. His funeral service will be Wednesday 10:30 AM at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon; the Rev. Herbert Garnes III will officiate. Burial will be at Massillon Cemetery.
