Argel Dean Stull, 85, of Tuscarawas Township, passed away at his home on April 3, 2024. He was born on April 15, 1938, in Grantsville, West Virginia, to the late Joseph and Rosie (Wright) Stull.
Dean proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years.
After returning from the service, Dean eloped with the love of his life, Sharon, January 31, 1964, in Virginia and they shared 60 years of marriage.
They were living in West Virginia when they had their first daughter, Sheila, and then later moved to Ohio where Dean worked in the manufacturing industry for 30 years and retired from Monarch Plastics in Orrville. Shortly after, Dean and Sharon had their second daughter, Sandy.
In 1972, they moved to Massillon where they put their roots down and raised their family.
In his earlier years, Dean loved to tinker with his many cars and loved to see how fast they could go around the curves of West Virginia. Among his racing idols were Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon.
One of Dean’s favorite hobbies was gardening. He took much pride in growing award-winning tomatoes and squash that the grandchildren always looked forward to eating.
He absolutely adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved building things with his two grandsons, Jeremy and Jacob and following his granddaughters Shana and Stephanie’s softball careers where he was their #1 fan.
Dean also enjoyed watching his three great-grandsons, Fitz, Mac and Duke, play, wrestle, and watch them grow into young boys.
On quiet summer evenings, Dean and Sharon loved sharing their time together on the front porch where they watched the birds.
Dean was also an avid Ohio sports fan, always rooting for the Indians, Browns, Cavs and Buckeyes.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 60 years, Sharon (Jones) Stull; his beloved daughters, Sheila (Glen) Villilo and Sandy Long; grandchildren, Shana (Blaise) Holzer, Stephanie Etter, Jeremy (Hannah Mayle) Long and Jacob (Regina Blue) Long; great-grandsons, Fitz, Mac, and Duke; and brother Roger (Betty) Stull.
In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his siblings, Gale Wright, Virgie Johnson and Elick Stull.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 7th from 12-1 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m.
Burial will take place on Monday, April 8th at 11 a.m. at Brookfield Cemetery where military rites will be rendered.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tuslaw Girl’s Softball Team.
